The short version
- We collect what you give us, like consultation requests, portal accounts, and messages, plus cookie-free page counts.
- We don’t sell personal information or use it for advertising.
- Many of our students are minors. For students under 13, a parent or guardian handles sign-up.
- Email readyset1600@gmail.com to see, correct, or delete your information.
01Who we are
ReadySet1600 (“ReadySet1600,” “we,” “us”) is a one-on-one SAT, SHSAT, ACT, and AMC tutoring service based in New York City. This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through readyset1600.org (including the Chinese and Korean versions of the site), our consultation form, the member portal, and our tutoring sessions.
“You” means anyone who uses the site or our services, including parents and guardians, students, and visitors. Where a section applies only to students, it says so.
02What we collect
Information you give us
- Consultation requests. When you book a free consultation, we ask for a student or parent name, an email address, the student’s grade, and the exam they’re preparing for. You can also give us a phone number, current and target scores, a referral code, and any notes you’d like us to read.
- Member accounts. Enrolled students and our tutors can create a portal account with an email address and password. Passwords are handled by Google Firebase Authentication, and we never see or store them in readable form.
- Portal activity. The portal keeps session bookings, assignments and due dates, messages between students and tutors, and score records.
- Messages to us. If you email, call, or text us, we keep the conversation so we can follow up.
Information from tutoring sessions
Tutors keep notes on what was covered, practice test results, and homework so they can plan the next session and write progress reports. We don’t record sessions unless a parent or guardian agrees first.
Information collected automatically
- Analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It records the page, the site that sent you, and general browser, device, and country information. It doesn’t use cookies and doesn’t follow you to other sites.
- Server logs. Our hosting provider processes standard request data, including your IP address, to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse.
- Browser storage. Your browser remembers your language choice (English, Chinese, or Korean). If you sign in to the portal, Firebase also stores your sign-in session there so you stay logged in. We don’t use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels.
03How we use it
- To respond to consultation requests and schedule the free call.
- To match each student with a tutor and plan sessions around their diagnostic results.
- To run sessions, assign homework, track scores, and send progress reports to families.
- To apply referral discounts and credits.
- To keep the portal working and secure, including making sure only enrolled families and our tutors can sign in.
- To see, in aggregate, which pages people visit so we can improve the site.
- To meet legal obligations and protect the safety of students and tutors.
We don’t sell personal information. We don’t share it with advertisers, and we don’t use a student’s information to build advertising profiles or for anything unrelated to tutoring.
05Children and students
Most of our students are in grades 6 through 12, and some are under 13. That shapes how we handle their information:
- For a student under 13, a parent or guardian should submit the consultation form and enroll the student. We create a portal account only after the family has enrolled and the parent or guardian has agreed.
- We collect only what we need to tutor the student, and we don’t ask students to share more than that.
- A parent or guardian can ask to review their child’s information, have it corrected or deleted, or stop any further collection by emailing us.
- If we learn that we collected personal information from a child under 13 without a parent’s or guardian’s consent, we will delete it.
ReadySet1600 is an independent tutoring service, not a school, and we don’t receive or access school records.
06How long we keep it
- Consultation requests that don’t lead to enrollment are deleted within 12 months of our last contact.
- Records for enrolled students (bookings, assignments, messages, and scores) are kept while the student works with us and deleted within 12 months of their last session.
- Analytics are aggregated page-view counts with no personal identifiers.
You can ask us to delete information sooner (see Your choices). We may keep a limited record longer when the law requires it, such as payment records.
07How we protect it
Portal data is stored with Google Firebase, which encrypts it in transit and at rest. Reaching it requires signing in, and we limit access to the people who need it. The site itself is served only over encrypted HTTPS connections.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we’ll notify you as New York law requires.
08Your choices
You can ask us to:
- Show you the personal information we hold about you or your child.
- Correct anything that’s wrong.
- Delete your information or your child’s, or close a portal account.
- Send you a copy in a common format.
- Stop sending non-essential messages. We’ll still contact you about sessions you’ve booked.
Email readyset1600@gmail.com from the address we have on file, or tell us how we can confirm you’re the student’s parent or guardian. We respond within 30 days. Deleting some records, such as an active student’s schedule, may mean we can’t keep providing sessions. We won’t treat you differently for making any of these requests.
Depending on where you live, state law may give you additional rights. We’ll honor them.
09Links to other sites
Our site links to services we don’t control, such as Instagram, Zoom, and official test websites. Their own privacy policies govern what they do with your information.
10Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we’ll update the effective date at the top of this page. If a change significantly affects how we use information we already have, we’ll email enrolled families before it takes effect.
